AM Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Invest UP, the investment promotion agency of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, to develop a 1 gigawatt (GW) high-performance AI compute hub in Greater Noida. The agreement was formalised at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos.
Under the MoU, AM Group will invest about USD 25 billion in the phased development of the facility, which will support global artificial intelligence workloads while using 24/7 carbon-free energy from wind, solar and pumped storage sources.
Phased Development and Technology Goals
The project will be implemented in stages, with the first capacity expected to be operational by 2028 and the full 1 GW capacity targeted for completion by 2030, according to an official statement.
AM Group said the facility will be built at a gigawatt-scale level, housing around 500,000 high-performance chipsets to handle large-scale computing needs. The compute hub will serve global hyperscalers, enterprises, frontier research labs and India’s own AI initiatives at scale and with speed, the company added.
Renewable Energy and Sustainability Focus
The project is designed to be powered entirely by carbon-free energy sources. AM Group said this commitment reflects its emphasis on building sustainable digital infrastructure that minimises environmental impact while meeting the growing demand for advanced AI computing.
Leadership Perspectives
Anil Chalamalasetty, Group Chairman of AM Group, emphasised the broader vision behind the investment, saying:
“Evolution of global AI ecosystem with intentionality, intelligence and adaptability will be a pivotal tool for current and future generations. AMG AI labs’ focus on valorising electron agents into intelligent tokens is a natural extension of our technology-first approach to our businesses as the global AI ecosystem races towards physical AI solutions.”
Mahesh Kolli, Group President of AM Group, added:
“By combining 1 GW of compute capacity with our 24/7 green power solutions, we are not just building a data center; we are creating a sustainable template for the future of global AI infrastructure with the support of the State of Uttar Pradesh.”
Strategic Importance and Broader Impact
The AI compute hub is expected to be one of the largest private investments in India’s digital infrastructure and aligns with the national goal to expand AI-driven services and capabilities. The facility will also foster a broader local ecosystem, including hardware manufacturing, software development and specialised cooling solutions.
State officials and industry leaders have described the project as a major step in positioning Uttar Pradesh as a significant hub for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
