Amara Raja Appoints Arpan Sharma to Lead New Categories and Strategic Automotive Initiatives

As part of its plan to strengthen its presence in India and the SAARC markets, the Amara Raja Group has named Arpan Sharma as Head of New Categories & Strategic Initiatives, Automotive.

In his new role, Sharma will report directly to the Chief Business Officer. He will lead the development of new brand and category extensions, with a clear focus on expanding the company’s addressable market and building new revenue and profit pools.

Supporting a Strategic Business Transformation

The leadership appointment comes at an important phase for Amara Raja as it moves beyond its legacy identity as a lead-acid battery major toward becoming a diversified energy and mobility solutions leader.

The company is actively reshaping its business portfolio, and Sharma is expected to bring an entrepreneurial approach to this transformation. His role will centre on identifying new growth opportunities, launching innovative categories, and strengthening long-term enterprise value.

This move reflects Amara Raja’s continued efforts to adapt to changing market dynamics while positioning itself for sustainable expansion in automotive and mobility segments.

Professional Background and Experience

Arpan Sharma brings over 15 years of experience across automotive, aftermarket, and digital sectors. He joins Amara Raja from CARS24, where he worked for more than seven years in multiple leadership roles, most recently as Vice President and Business Head.

Before his tenure at CARS24, Sharma worked with:

  • Accenture Strategy
  • Tata Strategic Management Group

Earlier in his career, he gained nearly four years of industry experience at Cummins India Ltd.

He holds an MBA in Marketing from the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai.

With this appointment, Amara Raja aims to strengthen its innovation-led growth strategy and expand its footprint across emerging automotive and mobility categories in India and the SAARC region.
