Axis Energy Proposes INR 31,750 Crore Investment for 5 GW Renewable Projects in Odisha

Indian renewable energy developer Axis Energy has proposed an investment of about INR 31,750 crore to develop large-scale renewable energy projects in Odisha, targeting a total installed capacity of 5 GW, the company said.

The proposed portfolio spans onshore wind, solar, agri-photovoltaic (agri-PV), hybrid wind-solar projects, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). With this initiative, Axis Energy aims to support Odisha’s clean energy ambitions and strengthen the state’s position as an emerging renewable energy hub.

The company stated that the proposed investment is expected to generate over 5,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities across the state. Axis Energy also plans to work closely with the Government of Odisha to promote sustainable growth and accelerate the state’s energy transition.

Hyderabad-based Axis Energy has commissioned more than 1.5 GW of renewable energy capacity since its inception in 2010 and is currently developing a project pipeline exceeding 8 GW across multiple states.

Axis Energy is also partnering with Brookfield Renewables through Evren, a joint venture with a 51:49 ownership structure. In December 2025, Axis Energy and Evren committed INR 31,500 crore to develop 2,750 MW of renewable energy projects in Telangana, covering wind, solar, hybrid, and agri-PV solutions across 19,750 acres and generating more than 4,750 direct jobs.

Earlier, in November 2025, the Government of Andhra Pradesh signed a memorandum of understanding worth about INR 1.10 lakh crore with ABC Cleantech (Evren) and Axis Energy Ventures India. Under the agreement, Evren will develop 6,500 MW of wind power, 6,500 MW of solar capacity, 6,500 MWh of energy storage, and facilities to produce 0.25 MTPA of green hydrogen along with its derivatives in the state.

Evren has also attracted USD 100 million in fresh capital to support the development and construction of up to 11 GW of solar, wind, and battery storage projects across Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, reinforcing Axis Energy’s expanding footprint in India’s renewable energy sector.
