    These Discoms Plans to Establish 900 More Charging Points in Delhi

    BSES discoms BRPL & BYPL have been working on the installation of approximately 2300 electric vehicle charging stations in Delhi.

    BSESThey are also in the process of setting up 900 more over the next few months, company officials stated.

    According to officials, there are 2300 charging points at more than 900 locations in south, east, central, and west Delhi. These include 1,123 private, 745 public, and 419 for captive BSES usage.

    According to them, the company is currently in discussions with several partners to expand its charging infrastructure.

    Officials at BSES stated that they will facilitate the installation and maintenance of additional charging points of 900 or more over the next few months. They also added that BSES discoms plan to convert all their vehicles to EVs by 2030.

    BSES currently has 80 EVs, and they expect to increase that number to 150 within the next 2 years, they stated.

    The Delhi government’s EV Policy aims to encourage electric vehicle adoption in the city, reduce pollution, and improve public health. This policy offers a variety of incentives and subsidies to encourage the use and purchase of EVs.

    This policy will see electric vehicles make up 25% of new vehicle registrations in Delhi by 2024.

    The Switch Delhi Portal allows consumers of BRPL or BYPL to have a private EV charger installed at their homes, group housing societies, multi-story apartment buildings, RWAs offices, and commercial shops.

    The Delhi government provides a subsidy of Rs.6000 to encourage private charging. This subsidy is for the first 30,000 charging stations.
