Enphase Energy, Inc., a global leader in energy technology, has commenced production shipments of its IQ9N-3P™ Commercial Microinverter across the U.S., marking a significant step in domestic solar technology manufacturing. The product is designed to meet Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) compliance and domestic content requirements for eligible commercial solar projects.
Gallium Nitride (GaN) Technology & Three-Phase Support
The IQ9N-3P is Enphase’s first microinverter powered by gallium nitride (GaN) technology. It supports three-phase 480Y/277 V (wye) grid configurations without external transformers, simplifying system design and reducing installation and balance-of-system costs for high-power commercial solar projects. The microinverter delivers industry-leading efficiency of up to 97.5% and supports solar panels up to 600 W.
Compliance and Safety Features
The IQ9N-3P complies with UL 1741-SB and IEEE 1547-2018 standards. Key safety and grid-support features include rapid shutdown, phase balancing, voltage/frequency ride-through, and loss-of-phase detection, ensuring safe and reliable grid operation. The microinverter integrates with the IQ® Gateway Commercial Pro, which serves as a communication and control hub, providing real-time monitoring, energy management, and advanced grid features such as export limiting.
U.S. Manufacturing and Domestic Content
Microinverters with the “DOM” suffix are manufactured in the U.S., enabling compliance with the Buy America Act and the Build America, Buy America Act. Eligible projects may qualify for domestic content bonus tax credits. Enphase emphasizes that domestic production supports commercial projects in meeting federal sourcing requirements while delivering reliable, flexible, and long-term solar solutions.
Industry Feedback
Jon Wedel, co-owner and vice president of commercial at Namaste Solar, highlighted that the 480V solution allows for more straightforward applications and efficient system installation, with domestic manufacturing simplifying compliance. Drew Collom, co-founder of Quality Solar, added that U.S.-made microinverters allow developers to design efficient systems and scale projects without costly redesigns.
The IQ9N-3P microinverter carries a 25-year limited warranty, while the IQ Gateway Commercial Pro is backed by a 15-year limited warranty, reflecting Enphase’s commitment to long-term reliability and quality.
