Canadian Solar Inc. declared that it has received the coveted Red Dot Award 2025 for its household energy storage system, EP Cube, which was created by its subsidiary, Eternalplanet. EP Cube is acknowledged by this award as one of the world’s best-designed domestic energy storage devices. A number of other international design honors, such as the iF Design Award and MUSE Design Award Gold, were also given to EP Cube earlier this year.

Founded in Germany in 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the most prominent design contests in the world and is sometimes referred to as the “Oscars of Industrial Design.” With less than 1.5% of the more than 10,000 entries it received in 2025 from more than 60 nations winning the prize, it is a worldwide recognized symbol of excellence in design.

EP Cube impressed the Red Dot jury with its modular design and ultra-slim profile. Key product features include the following:

  • Modular stacking design: Breaks the limitations of fixed-capacity systems, allowing flexible expansion based on user needs.
  • Ultra-slim profile: Minimizes installation space and time, adapting to a variety of home installation environments.
  • Three-phase output capability: Offers a maximum AC output of 12 kVa and a capacity of up to 40 kWh, enabling scalable capacity options from 5 kWh to 40 kWh to support diverse household energy profiles.
  • PV system compatibility: All EP Cube systems are compatible with existing and new PV systems, helping customers reduce dependence on the grid and advancing clean energy adoption.

Susanne Pflug, Chief Commercial Officer of Canadian Solar’s Home Energy Storage Business Unit, stated, “Winning the Red Dot award is not only an honor, but also a validation of our mission to drive the future of green energy with innovative technology. EP Cube transforms energy storage technology into a smart home partner, setting a new paradigm between technological innovation and lifestyle aesthetics.”

Further information about EP Cube’s recognition can be found on the Red Dot Award official website.
