Exide Technologies Unveils Compact 5MWh Solition Mega Five BESS

Exide Technologies, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable battery storage solutions for automotive and industrial applications, proudly unveils the Solition Mega Five—a next-generation 5.5 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) designed to meet the evolving needs of utility-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) customers across Europe.

Engineered for performance, safety, and scalability—both for front-of-the-meter (FTM) and behind-the-meter (BTM) applications—the Solition Mega Five delivers exceptional energy density in a compact 20-foot container, setting a new benchmark for energy footprint efficiency.

Modular architecture & high performance

The system’s liquid-cooled architecture and high-density modular design enable more energy storage within the same footprint—perfectly aligning with the industry trend toward compact, high-capacity solutions.

With fewer yet larger cells, the design minimizes failure potential, enhances reliability, and reduces total cost of ownership, while advanced Battery Management System (BMS) technology ensures continuous monitoring and optimal system performance. To ensure quality and manufacturing integrity, each cell is inspected during production using X-ray and CT detection technologies.

Exide also offers a tailor-made skid solution for the Solition Mega Five, a pre-assembled, transportable unit that houses all essential components—such as inverters, transformers, and medium-voltage switchgear—enabling a fast-track installation and seamless integration into existing medium-voltage grid infrastructure while simplifying project planning, permitting, and commissioning for large-scale deployments.

European expertise, data security & end-to-end service

Developed and manufactured in Europe, Solition Mega Five combines engineering excellence with data sovereignty. Exide offers a full-service approach—from consulting and project design to installation, certification, and long-term service.

The company’s proprietary energy management software is developed and maintained in-house, with all operational data securely hosted on European servers in compliance with EU regulations.

Meeting market demand
