Haryana has another target of installing 2.2 lakh rooftop solar (RTS) systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana by the 202627 fiscal year as part of its move towards clean and sustainable energy.
The roadmap was announced at the state-level coordination committee (SLCC), in which chief secretary Anurag Rastogi presided and top officers outlined the rollout programme and documented the progress of the scheme.
It is also the vision of the state to ensure that all the government buildings are solarised by 31 December 2025 without seeking any central financial assistance (CFA). Already, 4,523 buildings owned by the government have been surveyed, and the total solar potential is 122 MW.
“Haryana is not just promoting solar energy; we are ensuring it reaches the doorstep of every household, especially in rural areas,” said chief secretary Rastogi.
Additional chief secretary (ACS-energy) AK Singh added that 30,631 rooftop solar (RTS) installations have been completed in the state so far, and the state DISCOMs are in the process of working out special booster schemes regarding a 1,000 percent boost in RTS installation in the state.
Another initiative introduced by Haryana is the model solar village (MSV), where one village with the help of a self-sufficient solar power source in every district will be built.
The villages with a population exceeding 5,000 can get a CFA not exceeding 1 crore (CFA). Balu village of Kaithal has already achieved the status of the first MSV of the state, and the selections are being conducted in Karnal and Kurukshetra. Such villages have been set up with solar-powered lights, home light systems, water supply system, and pumps, which make an ecosystem of green energy 24×7.
