Hindustan Power has secured a 100 MW solar project with 200 MWh battery storage from SJVN, a milestone in India for 24x7 reliable energy

Ratul Puri’s energy company, Hindustan Power, a leading integrated power generation company, has been awarded a 100 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project along with a 200 MWh BESS from SJVN Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise. The actual installed capacity of the solar project will be substantially higher, not only to supply power throughout the day but also to charge the BESS for uninterrupted peak-hour supply.

The project was secured through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, followed by a successful e-Reverse Auction (e-RA) conducted on the ETS portal. It is a part of the 1200 MW ISTS-connected solar PV power projects with 600 MW/2400 MWh Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to be set up anywhere in India.

The project will play a crucial role in enhancing grid resilience and operational agility by balancing intermittent solar power generation with real-time energy demand while ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of clean power, including four hours of delivery during peak demand periods. The integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will enable energy shifting and peak load management, significantly improving grid stability and efficiency. Designed to deliver firm and dispatchable power throughout the 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the project will position Hindustan Power as a critical contributor to India’s renewable energy transition.

“We are happy to have won this project, which marks an important step in bringing more clean and reliable energy to the country. By combining solar power with energy storage, we can ensure effective management of peak power demand along with an uninterrupted supply of power even when the sun isn’t shining. I am confident that this will help in building a stronger, more dependable energy system for everyone.”

    – Mr. Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power.

By combining solar power with advanced storage, Hindustan Power is supporting national goals for sustainability, energy security, and 24×7 clean power delivery.

Hindustan Power is a leading integrated power generation company in India with a focus on renewable and transitional energy generation. With a commitment to sustainability and innovation, the company has been an active contributor to India’s energy transition.
