KPI Green Energy Commissions First Phase of 250 MW GUVNL Solar Project Ahead of Schedule

Renewable energy developer and builder KPI Green Energy has achieved an early major milestone in the implementation of its large grid connected solar power project contract with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). The company announced the early commissioning of the first phase of its 250 MW AC/350 MW DC solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) project.

In an official statement, the kWh solar power plant capacity has been confirmed to stand at an initial capacity of 24.2 MW AC/34.4 MW DC, which has been achieved well before the set time with the project being part of a larger solar power plant tender floated by GUVNL for the procurement of solar power from different solar photovoltaic plants across India.

Project Background and Award Details

KPI Green Energy had received the L rigid letter under Request for Selection, which was RFS No. GUVNL/500 MW/Solar (Phase-XXIV), dated 15th March 2024. GUVNL had floated the tender for a total capacity of 500 MW. It has given allocation through a competitive bidding process.

The company said the commissioned capacity forms part of the 250 MW AC (350 MW DC) solar photovoltaic project awarded to it under this auction framework.

Project Timeline and Execution Progress

  • Project awarded to KPI Green Energy in March 2025
  • First phase commissioned in approximately 11 months
  • Overall contractual completion timeline extends till October 2026
  • Remaining capacity expected to be executed at a similar pace

According to the company, the project is progressing in line with planned execution milestones, with a continued focus on maintaining efficiency, quality standards, and timely delivery.

Tariffs and Allocation Structure

GUVNL had offered the project capacity with a greenshoe option to all the selected bidders. KPI Green Energy won its allotment at a tariff of ₹ 2.67 per kWh. Other winners in the auction included :

  • Avaada Energy – ₹2.68/kWh
  • Solarcraft Power India–BluPine – ₹2.69/kWh
  • Hinduja Renewables – ₹2.72/kWh
  • NRC Industries – ₹2.72/kWh

Under the bucket-filling method, capacity allocation was as follows:

  • KPI Green Energy – 120 MW
  • Avaada Energy – 200 MW
  • Hinduja Renewables – 130 MW
  • Solarcraft Power India–BluPine – 40 MW
  • NRC Industries – 10 MW

With early commissioning already achieved, KPI Green Energy has reinforced its execution capabilities and continues to strengthen its position in India’s expanding utility-scale solar power market.
