Mahindra Susten Appointments Avinash Rao as its MD and CEO

Mahindra Susten Appointments Avinash Rao as its MD and CEO

Mahindra Susten, the renewable energy and solutions platform of the Mahindra Group, has announced the appointment of Avinash Rao as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, who will join the company with effect from September 24, 2025.

In his new role, Rao will lead the growth strategy of the company and help in expanding the portfolio of solar, wind, hybrid, and C&I solutions, as well as newer technologies in energy storage and integrated clean energy solutions.

Mahindra Susten currently has in excess of 1.6 GW of project capacities and almost 3.6 GW under construction. The company has also completed over 4 GW of projects via its EPC entity.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & MD, Mahindra Group, said, “At Mahindra, sustainability and climate action are core to our purpose, and Susten plays a pivotal role in advancing this vision. Avinash’s deep expertise across the energy value chain will help accelerate our transition to a cleaner energy future while creating long-term stakeholder value.”

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), a major investor in Mahindra Susten, also said they agreed with the appointment.

Bruce Crane, Executive Managing Director and Head of Asia-Pacific at OTPP, said, “We congratulate Avinash Rao on his appointment and look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Mahindra Susten, which has established itself as a key player in India’s renewable energy sector.”

Experience

Rao has nearly 30 years of work experience in conventional energies, renewable energy, transmission, and investment activities. He has also worked as a leader with Sustainable Energy Infra Trust (SEIT), Edelweiss Alternatives-backed Sekura India Management and CLP India
