Neuron Energy Teams Up With OEM For e-2W Innovation

A manufacturing facility specialized to the production of lithium-ion battery packs for electric two-wheelers has been established by Neuron Energy, a prominent EV battery producer, in collaboration with an original two-wheeler equipment manufacturer.

With a monthly production capacity of 3,000 battery packs, the plant can generate 100 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy. With an expenditure of Rs 150 crore over the next two years, the production capacity would be increased to 150 MWh, solidifying India’s position as a global leader in the EV ecosystem.

The partnership promotes the Indian government’s goal of hastening the adoption of EVs by tackling important issues including battery performance, cost, and scalability. It is anticipated that establishing a specialized manufacturing base with strong production capabilities will be essential to satisfying India’s rising demand for electric two-wheelers.

“This partnership marks a significant milestone in our journey to enhance the electric two-wheeler market with advanced lithium-ion technology,” stated Pratik Kamdar, CEO and co-founder of Neuron Energy. “By collaborating with the OEM, we are fusing their market dominance with our knowledge of battery technology to provide customers with unrivaled performance and dependability.”

Compared to conventional lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries have a better energy density, a longer lifespan, and the ability to charge more quickly, making them a game-changer in the EV business. Joint ventures like these are essential for increasing output and cutting costs since issues like production costs and a lack of local manufacturing have prevented widespread adoption.

To encourage EV adoption, the Indian government has launched a number of programs, including the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) schemes. These include investments in charging infrastructure, incentives for producers, and subsidies for EV purchasers, all of which foster collaboration and creativity.
