Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for the 300 MW (AC) Solar Photovoltaic Project of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) at Ramagiri in Sri Sathya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh. This project stands as SECI’s largest self-owned solar PV installation to date and represents a major step forward in India’s renewable energy mission.

The ceremony of laying the foundation stone was through the Siva Parv observance which took place 25th September 2025 in Banswara, Rajasthan in the revered presence of Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Governor of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution; and New and Renewable Energy, and N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Other prominent leaders, such as Dr. Prem Chanda Bairwa and Diya Kumari, Deputies Chief Ministers of Rajasthan, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Energy Minister of Andhra Pradesh, BK Parthasarathi, MP, Hindupur, and senior officials of the governments of Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh were also present in the event.

During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the inclusive nature of the country’s development, stating:

“Our effort is focused on Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and the development of everyone with clean energy and better opportunities for every family.”

The solar PV is in the villages of Ramagiri and Muthuvakuntla on a 1,047 acres land and it has been undertaken under CPSU Scheme Phase II, Tranche III. The power will be sold to the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) and the power purchase agreement has already been signed.

This project will create direct and indirect jobs in the construction and the operation of the project. It will also facilitate the development of local infrastructure and offer a lot to the socio-economic development of the area. When it is operational, it will become a blueprint of the public sector-led renewable energy projects, integrating both national energy goals with the local community gains.

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) is a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSE) which is 100 percent owned by Government of India. With its mandate as the nodal agency to renewable energy projects, SECI remains at the center stage in driving the objective of clean power in India by the use of innovative and scalable project designs.
