Biswaroop Mukherjee is the new Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) of the Battery Business at Reliance Industries Limited, effective starting July 2025. As part of his new assignment. Mukherjee will lead the people strategy of one of the most ambitious and transformational verticals of Reliance in its long-term mission of hitting the goal of net-zero carbon emission by 2035. His hire is a strategic decision of the firm to enhance its leadership position in the clean energy sector and reinforce its talent-based expansion.
He will head the people strategy of one of the most transformative verticals at Reliance in this position, which is aligned with the corporate vision of turning into a net-zero in terms of carbon emission by 2035. The given interest in sustainable development will reinforce the key role of human capital in supporting innovation and operational excellence in the new energy projects of Reliance.
Mukherjee has 20-plus years of experience in global HR leadership, having served a diverse sector and regions. Before this, he used to serve as Vice President of People and Transformation at Aker Solutions. He has worked in high positions at Deloitte as well. ABP Network, and had been Head of HR of the Commercial Vehicle Business of Tata Motors, and had been responsible for HR functions in the country and a number of operating companies overseas.
These are experiences across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa, which provide him an unusual insight into cross-cultural team leadership and large-scale change management. The international experience qualifies him to understand the terrain of the current venture in the energy sector and the changing components of Reliance and to formulate a culture of inclusiveness, diversity and high performance.
