RML Group Achieves CoP Certification for Advanced Battery Systems

RML Group earns CoP certification for its battery systems, becoming a Tier 1 supplier for OEMs with a strong focus on safety and quality.

RML Group Ltd., an automotive engineering company based in the UK, has been awarded Conformity of Production (CoP) certification for its battery systems. Making this advance means the company is closer to becoming ready to supply parts for OEM systems.

Making Sure Quality and Safety Stay High

UCA, which is chosen by certifying authorities, performs a thorough audit before granting the CoP certification. The audit proved that the products made at RML always match the standards in UN ECE Regulation 100. Following this regulation gives RML’s electrified components extra protection, showing their strong focus on safety and high quality.

“This is an important step forward for RML. It really highlights the in-depth technical capability and quality standards RML adheres to. The certification solidifies the message to the industry that RML delivers performance safely, reliably, and repeatably.”

    – James Arkell, Head of Powertrain at RML Group.

Having a CoP certificate is now seen as the basic standard for firms working with top automotive companies. It means a company can develop products safe enough and build them to those standards with consistency. With this approval, RML has become a Tier 1 capable supplier.

How a Company Competitively Positions Itself

Being ECE certified reflects the key part certification plays in RML’s VarEVolt battery homologation project. This makes the company suitable to bid on bigger projects other than providing just design samples or very small quantities. Arkell went on to say, “Being certified shows that we have distance from many of the smaller EV start-ups.” He made clear that it shows RML is prepared to switch from developing and presenting small ideas to providing for larger production runs.

RML Group was started by Ray Mallock in 1984 and has always focused on “Engineering Excellence” in the performance engineering industry. Manufacturing of small batches, making more of existing models, innovations in battery technology, and unique motorsport projects are all within the automaker’s range of skills.
