The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has floated a significant tender for the supply and commissioning of high-capacity power transformers in Gujarat. The project involves the turnkey procurement of five power transformers, each rated at 160 MVA with a voltage configuration of 220/33-33 kV, to be installed at the Radha Nesda substation.
The tender forms part of SECI’s broader efforts to reinforce power transmission infrastructure supporting large-scale, grid-connected renewable energy projects across India. By strengthening substations and transmission capabilities, the initiative aims to improve grid stability and facilitate the seamless integration of renewable power.
Under the scope of work, the selected bidder will be responsible for end-to-end execution, including engineering, design, manufacturing, and factory testing of the transformers. The contractor must also manage packing, forwarding, and insured transportation of the equipment to the project site. Post-delivery responsibilities include unloading, storage at site, installation, site testing, and final commissioning, ensuring the transformers are fully operational in compliance with technical specifications.
In alignment with the Government of India’s “Make in India” policy, the tender is open exclusively to Class-I local suppliers, defined as entities with a minimum of 50 percent local content in the supplied goods or services. The procurement process will follow a Single Stage Two Envelope system, followed by an electronic reverse auction to identify the most competitive bidder.
Bidders are required to pay a non-refundable tender processing fee of ₹25,000, excluding applicable GST, and submit an Earnest Money Deposit of ₹1.5 crore. Upon award, the successful bidder must furnish a Contract Performance Security equivalent to 10 percent of the total contract value, valid for a period of 31 months.
The tender was issued on January 2, 2026. An online pre-bid meeting is scheduled for January 12, 2026, at 11:00 hrs IST. The deadline for submission of online bids is January 23, 2026, at 14:00 hrs, with techno-commercial bids slated to be opened later the same day at 16:00 hrs IST.
The selected contractor will be required to complete the entire supply, installation, and commissioning work within 16 months from the date of issuance of the purchase order or notice to proceed. All bid submissions must be made exclusively through SECI’s designated ISN-ETS portal.
This tender represents a key step in SECI’s ongoing mission to expand India’s renewable energy infrastructure, promote domestic manufacturing, and enhance grid reliability in support of the country’s clean energy transition.
