TPSDI Unveils Delhi Centre Offering Hands‑On Solar, Storage & Hydro Training

To provide young people with hands-on training in renewable energy technology, the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) has launched a new Green Energy Skill Center in Rohini, Delhi. To prepare a trained workforce to assist India’s sustainable energy transformation, the center will provide specialized training in solar PV systems, energy storage, hydro storage, and electrical safety.

Together with Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), officially opened the center. Senior officials from MNRE, NITI Aayog, REC, NCVET, and Tata Power Delhi Distribution attended the inaugural ceremony.

Training programs offered by TPSDI, a dual awarding organization recognized by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), are in line with the National Skills Qualification Framework. According to officials, TPSDI’s courses are designed to complement national programs like the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and significantly advance India’s sustainable development objectives.

More than 3.43 lakh people have received training from TPSDI so far in subjects including power systems, electrical safety, transmission, green energy, and soft skills. Of them, over 18,000 are women and over 50,000 are members of affirmative action organizations. Bhutan, Ethiopia, and Liberia are just a few of the 43 nations where the institution has conducted training.

It offers practical instruction in solar, wind, hydro systems, and new fields like green hydrogen at its Green Energy Centers in Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. With eight more centers scheduled for the year, the Rohini center, located within the Tata Power-DDL Training Centre’s Cenpeid campus, becomes TPSDI’s 12th hub in India. It is anticipated that this development would support national renewable energy goals and further develop India’s green workforce.
