U Power Launches Southeast Asia’s First AI‑Powered Battery‑Swapping Station

U Power Launches Southeast Asia’s First AI‑Powered Battery‑Swapping Station

Building on its exclusive UOTTATM EV battery-swapping technology, U Power Limited, a supplier of AI-powered solutions for intelligent transportation systems and next-generation energy grids, announced the opening of Southeast Asia’s first operational smart battery-swapping station (the “Thailand Station”), situated on Phuket Island, Thailand.

After U Power delivered the first fleet of taxis in Southeast Asia that can change batteries in May 2025, operations at the Thailand Station began. In addition to being the first smart battery-swapping station to be deployed under U Power’s joint venture with SUSCO Public Company Limited (BK: SUSCO), this is also the first smart battery-swapping station in Southeast Asia that is fully operational around-the-clock and made especially for electric taxis and ride-hailing fleets. In order to satisfy the rising demand for EV energy solutions, the partnership seeks to modernize Thailand’s transportation infrastructure into a more AI-driven and sustainable model.

The first batch of swappable electric cars, which are being used as taxis and ride-hailing services in Phuket, was delivered by U Power in April 2025 in partnership with UNEX EV and CP-MG. The ecological loop—from car to switching station to operating platform—is completed with the formal opening of the Phuket station, laying the groundwork for a scalable and reproducible business model throughout the area.

The Thailand Station is compatible with various vehicle types, including future autonomous vehicles, and incorporates AI-powered battery-swapping solutions, enabling battery swaps in a matter of minutes. The weather-resistant Thailand Station offers strong defense against high humidity and heavy rains and is especially made to survive Phuket’s tropical climate. By integrating with U Power’s battery-bank system, the Thailand Station—the first zero-carbon battery-swapping station in the area—will allow EV drivers to earn battery-tokens through battery-swapping activities. As more stations are set up and more compatible EVs hit the market, it is anticipated that this creative incentive scheme will grow.

Building a Global Data-Driven Energy Ecosystem

Guided by its strategic “Vehicle-Station-Cloud-Token” framework, U Power is building a nodal, intelligent, and data-driven energy infrastructure network, that enables seamless integration between mobility energy and digital energy trading, laying the foundation for the widespread adoption of autonomous vehicles and accelerating the transition toward a fully automated, unmanned future in global smart mobility.

U Power is addressing a critical challenge in mobility energy by deploying its smart swapping stations across countries and continents, via collaborations with governments and industry partners aiming to create a smarter, greener, and more efficient energy future.
