The arm of Vedanta, Meenakshi Energy (MEL), has declared full operationalization of its 1,000 MW thermal power plant in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, two years after purchasing it.
The complex is comprised of 2 units of 350 MW and two units of 150 MW. The 150 MW units were stabilized earlier this year and the 350 MW units were commissioned this month. The company indicates that the plant will provide a reliable power supply to the industrial cluster within its location as well as provide a stable baseload supply to the national grid. This milestone is a big milestone in the process of enhancing the energy security of India that Vedanta takes part in and in enhancing industrialization in the country.
