Voltwise has signed and closed a transaction to acquire the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) division from SMS, which brings 460 MW of BESS assets in operation and under construction across the UK.
The acquisition sees Voltwise significantly increase its UK footprint, marking a key step in the company’s growth strategy to become a leading, BESS-focused, independent power producer across Europe. The combined business includes operating, construction and development assets and is supported by a strong suite of capabilities.
The portfolio comprises seven operating BESS projects with a capacity of 320 MW/MWh, four projects under construction with a capacity of 140 MW/280 MWh, and a number of development assets expanding Voltwise’s existing pipeline.
“I am delighted that we have concluded a transaction to grow our business in alignment with our strategic ambition. This marks an exciting moment in the evolution of our business at Voltwise, delivering a platform that is well placed to drive future expansion and profitable growth across our key jurisdictions.”
