Volvo Car India and ChargeZone have jointly inaugurated a 360 kW ultra‑fast electric vehicle charging station on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway, marking a major step in expanding high‑speed EV charging infrastructure across India’s busiest intercity routes. The facility is located at Food Hills, near Igatpuri on the highway, offering improved charging convenience for long‑distance travellers.
The newly opened station features a 360 kW Star Charge power unit with two dynamic load‑balancing dispensers designed to distribute power optimally. This configuration helps reduce waiting times and provides faster real‑world charging for both Volvo EV users and other electric vehicle drivers.
Strategically positioned on one of Maharashtra’s most travelled roadways, the charging hub includes dedicated charging bays for Volvo EVs, seamless app‑based navigation and digital payments, and customer‑oriented amenities that enhance overall travel experience and reliability.
Leadership Remarks on the Initiative
During the ribbon‑cutting ceremony, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, said, “As a legacy brand, Volvo Cars is committed to driving the transition towards sustainable mobility, and this partnership with ChargeZone is a testament to that vision. Together, we are ensuring that our customers not only enjoy the luxury and performance of Volvo EVs but also have access to a dependable and hassle‑free charging infrastructure. The new 360 kW station on the Mumbai–Nashik highway is the first step in delivering a world‑class charging experience across India.”
Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO, ChargeZone, added, “The launch of our first co‑branded 360 kW ultra‑fast charging station with Volvo Car India represents an important milestone in building a premium, future‑ready charging network for the country. The Mumbai Nashik hub showcases our focus on high‑speed, technology‑enabled infrastructure supported by intelligent features such as dynamic power loading that significantly improve the customer experience. As EV adoption accelerates, our priority is to ensure that long‑distance travel becomes fast, predictable and seamless.”
Background and Future Plans
The installation follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2025 between Volvo Car India and ChargeZone to expand access to high‑speed EV charging stations across key national corridors in India. As part of this partnership, additional charging hubs are planned for rollout in 2026 along other strategic routes to further support the growing electric mobility landscape.
The project expands India’s high‑speed EV charging infrastructure, improving charging access and reducing journey times for electric vehicle drivers on key national highways.
