24M Technologies, Inc. declared that their Impervio battery separator technology has been named a 2025 World-Changing Idea by Fast Company. This yearly award recognizes innovative and groundbreaking work that addresses the most important global concerns, ranging from innovative sustainability projects and advanced energy technologies to audacious social justice endeavors that contribute to a better society.
“The World Changing Ideas Awards have always been about showcasing the art of the possible. We’re proud to recognize the organizations and leaders that are making meaningful progress on the biggest issues of our time.”
– Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan.
This award follows Fast Company’s recent recognition of 24M as a 2025 Most Innovative Company.
An innovation in battery fire safety, 24M’s Impervio separator is made to tackle major hazards including internal shorts and overcharging, which are the primary causes of thermal runaway that result in fires and expensive recalls. Impervio is able to stop thermal problems before they begin by actively suppressing dendrites and facilitating early fault identification. It makes it possible for next-generation lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries to provide improved performance and safety without compromising their ability to be manufactured for use in e-bikes, consumer electronics, energy storage systems, EVs, and airplanes, among other applications.
“As batteries become central to everything from electric vehicles to grid storage and personal devices, fire safety can no longer be an afterthought. We’re proud to be recognized by Fast Company for our work to make batteries fundamentally safer. With Impervio, we’ve developed a game-changing technology that proactively helps prevent catastrophic failures for safer, more reliable clean energy. It’s innovations and ideas like these that move us closer to a truly sustainable and secure energy future.”
–Naoki Ota, President and CEO of 24M.
