Alpex Solar Ltd has secured a significant INR 65 crore (approx. ₹65 crore, excluding GST) order from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to supply off-grid DC solar photovoltaic water pumping systems under the Government of India’s flagship PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan) Scheme and the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, marking a notable milestone for the company in India’s renewable energy space.
Under the contract, Alpex Solar will deliver solar-powered water pumping systems across various districts of Maharashtra to support agricultural irrigation and decarbonise farming operations by replacing conventional diesel-based pumps and grid-dependent power solutions with clean, sustainable solar energy. The execution of the order is scheduled to be completed within 60 days as per the Letter of Empanelment issued by MSEDCL.
The PM-KUSUM Scheme, launched by the Government of India, aims to promote renewable energy adoption in agriculture, enhance farmers’ energy security and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Component B of this scheme specifically focuses on the deployment of off-grid solar pumps, enabling farmers to access reliable, daytime solar power for irrigation, thereby reducing input costs, limiting greenhouse gas emissions, and improving agricultural productivity.
MSEDCL, one of India’s largest electricity distribution utilities, is implementing the PM-KUSUM initiatives across Maharashtra to expand decentralized renewable solutions and enhance rural electrification. With this new contract, Alpex Solar will play a key role in supporting these state-level efforts by supplying high-quality solar water pumping systems designed to deliver dependable performance in agricultural settings.
Commenting on the development, Ashwani Sehgal, Managing Director of Alpex Solar Ltd, said the order reflects strong confidence in Alpex Solar’s engineering expertise, manufacturing prowess and execution capabilities. He added that the company’s success in government-led renewable initiatives highlights trust in its technology and commitment to quality, reinforcing its position in the rapidly expanding solar infrastructure segment.
Alpex Solar Ltd has a diversified presence across the renewable energy value chain, including solar PV module manufacturing, solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects, solar water pumps, RESCO-based solar electricity solutions and international trading. This latest order is expected to significantly bolster Alpex Solar’s order book and support its growth trajectory in India’s emerging solar energy market.
Solar-powered irrigation systems, such as the ones to be supplied under this contract, are increasingly recognized as critical enablers for sustainable agriculture. By leveraging solar energy, farmers benefit from reliable daytime power, reduced operating costs, and lower carbon emissions — aligning with both national energy transition goals and grassroots rural development.
The award of this INR 65 crore contract to Alpex Solar underscores the company’s evolving role in the renewable sector and its contribution to India’s clean energy transformation, particularly in advancing solar solutions that accelerate agricultural electrification, enhance energy access for farmers, and contribute to broader climate and sustainability objectives.
