Blue Energy Motors Secures $50M to Boost LNG & EV Truck Expansion in India

Blue Energy Motors (BEM), a prominent Indian manufacturer specializing in LNG and electric heavy-duty trucks, has secured $50 million in funding to scale its green mobility efforts. This round includes a fresh $30 million investment from Nikhil Kamath and Omnitex Industries, bolstering the company’s ability to increase production and broaden adoption of its sustainable trucking solutions across the country.

Strategic partners Essar and FPT (part of Iveco Group) back BEM’s clean transportation vision. With an existing annual capacity of 10,000 trucks, the newly infused capital will accelerate the expansion of its LNG and EV truck lineup and deepen its greener logistics footprint nationwide.

Having already sold about 1,000 LNG trucks serving Fortune 500 firms, these vehicles have logged over 60 million kilometers, helping reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 15,000 tonnes.

“The fresh fundraise empowers Blue Energy Motors to accelerate India’s shift to clean, sustainable freight transportation. By harnessing both LNG and electric truck technologies, we are set to lead India’s transformation toward sustainable, zero-emission freight,” said Anirudh Bhuwalka, Founder & Managing Director of BEM.

Investor Nikhil Kamath emphasized the importance of scalable clean logistics: “The future of logistics in India will be built on clean, scalable technology. Blue Energy has done that well.”

Anshuman Ruia, Director at Essar, added, “Our continued investment underscores our confidence in Blue Energy Motors and its innovative approach to decarbonizing heavy‑duty transportation. This aligns perfectly with Essar’s broader vision of championing sustainable business solutions across sectors.”

With transportation responsible for nearly 15% of India’s total carbon emissions, BEM’s combined LNG and electric truck technologies are poised to play a pivotal role in the country’s move toward sustainable freight.
