Bondada Engineering Limited (BEL) has incorporated Bondada Hindupur BESS Project Private Limited (BHBPL) as a wholly owned subsidiary to develop, own, operate and maintain a 225 MW/450 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project awarded by AP Transco under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model.
According to a regulatory filing, BHBPL has been established as a dedicated special purpose vehicle (SPV) to oversee the project’s development and execution. Its responsibilities will include project financing, procurement, construction, commissioning, ownership, operation and maintenance, as applicable under the project agreements.
The utility-scale BESS project is designed to provide energy storage capacity and energy management services to support Andhra Pradesh’s evolving power requirements. The company said the project is expected to support renewable energy integration, grid balancing, peak-load management and greater flexibility in the state’s power system.
Bondada Engineering expands into energy storage
The project marks BEL’s entry into the rapidly growing energy-storage and energy-transition infrastructure segment. With renewable energy capacity increasing, large-scale battery storage is expected to play a growing role in providing grid flexibility, balancing capacity and reliable power management.
Through BHBPL, Bondada Engineering plans to leverage its infrastructure and project execution capabilities to establish a presence in utility-scale energy storage while diversifying its portfolio into emerging infrastructure opportunities.
The company said the project is aligned with its broader strategy of expanding into high-growth infrastructure segments and creating additional long-term growth opportunities.
BHBPL will develop and implement the project in accordance with applicable contractual, regulatory and statutory requirements. Its financial and operational performance will be reflected in BEL’s consolidated financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.
