The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has given Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd a contract worth about ₹71.75 crore to install 3,540 off-grid DC solar photovoltaic (PV) water pumping systems all over Maharashtra.
The order, disclosed through a regulatory filing under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, falls under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana (MTSKPY), which is part of Component B of the PM-KUSUM scheme.
Comprehensive project scope and execution
The contract covers the whole project, from design to manufacturing to supply to installation to testing to commissioning of the solar water pumping systems at several locations across the state.
In addition, Crompton Greaves will provide complete system warranty, repair and maintenance services, along with remote monitoring capabilities, ensuring long-term operational efficiency and reliability.
Timeline and regulatory compliance
As per the company’s official disclosure, the project is required to be completed within 60 days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed or work order. The company also confirmed that the contract is a domestic order, with no related party involvement and no promoter group interest in the awarding entity.
Supporting sustainable agriculture
The project is part of the government’s efforts to get farmers to use solar-powered irrigation systems, which will make them less dependent on traditional energy sources and boost agricultural productivity.
By deploying off-grid solar water pumps, the initiative is expected to support sustainable farming practices while ensuring reliable access to water in rural areas.
Strengthening renewable energy presence
This order is a big step for Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals in growing its presence in the renewable energy market, especially in solar-powered agricultural infrastructure.
The collaboration with MSEDCL highlights the company’s capability to execute large-scale projects under government-backed schemes, reinforcing its position as a comprehensive solution provider in the solar water pumping space.
As agriculture focuses more on using clean energy, Crompton Greaves continues to make sure that its growth plans fit in with India’s larger goals of sustainability, energy efficiency, and rural development.
