The solar-powered integrated second-life battery EV charging center alongside Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) will be opened by Energy Minister K. J. George on June 02. With this facility, Karnataka is making great progress in building its electric vehicle infrastructure, which is currently the best in India.
The collaboration between BESCOM, the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), Bosch, and the people of Karnataka has resulted in an EV charging hub that can charge up to 23 vehicles at once. Setting up this modern facility is one way we are working to improve our electric vehicle infrastructure and serve the increasing number of people seeking green transportation.
The BIAL EV Hub is the first in India to use second-life batteries for commercial purposes. Thanks to its 45 kW of solar panels and over 100 kWh of second-life batteries, this facility demonstrates how India is committed to ‘clean’ energy. There are 23 charging points; 18 of them are fast charging and five are slow, to make things convenient for electric vehicle users.
Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has played an important part in Karnataka’s increased use of electric vehicles. The aim to improve and oversee electric vehicle infrastructure has encouraged many to use EVs.
Ministers, officials,, and other esteemed guests will be present,, such as Gaurav Gupta, Additional Secretary of the Department of Energy; Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Managing Director of KPCL; Dr. N.. Shivashankar, Managing Director of BESCOM; and others.
