Redwood Materials, an electric vehicle battery recycling and materials recovery company founded by former Tesla CTO and board member JB Straubel, has appointed former Tesla Chief Financial Officer Deepak Ahuja as its new CFO.
Ahuja, who previously served as CFO at Tesla from 2017 to 2019 and played a key role in its 2010 IPO, brings extensive experience in EV and clean energy finance. He first joined Tesla in 2008, briefly left in 2015, and returned in 2017 to support its rapid global expansion.
Redwood Materials is one of the leading companies in the EV circular economy space. It focuses on recycling lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and energy storage systems to recover valuable materials like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and copper. The company is building a closed-loop supply chain in the United States, aiming to reduce dependence on mining and make EV production more sustainable. It also supplies recycled battery materials back to manufacturers, helping lower costs and improve supply chain security for the fast-growing electric vehicle industry.
