French-Chinese JV to Establish Lithium-Ion Battery Plant in France

In Le Mans, northern France, the Manitou Group of France and the Hangcha Group of China will form a joint venture to construct a lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
According to them, it will enable consumers to switch from lead-acid batteries to the more durable lithium-ion batteries in their cars.

By 2030, Manitou wants 28% of all units sold to be electrified.

Zhao Limin, Hangcha Group’s chairman, stated: “Leveraging Hangcha’s core technological and manufacturing strengths in lithium battery solutions, we will collaboratively enhance solution capability of new energy industrial vehicle power systems.”

The joint venture is subject to approval by the European competition authorities.
