The last few months have been transformational for GEON. Our rebranding during the Bharat Mobility event signaled more than a new identity – GEON marked our strategic shift from being mobility centric to becoming a comprehensive clean energy solution company. The new brand architecture positions us a product-led business with a strong focus on energy storage solutions, inverters, and allied clean energy technologies.
Under the GEON brand, we have significantly expanded our product portfolio and entered new revenue streams, including the aftermarket L3 category and the home and C&I backup power markets. To improve accessibility for end consumers and accelerate adoption, we have partnered with leading financial institutions such as Bajaj Finserv (BFL) to offer easy financing options across our product range.
On the manufacturing front, we also commissioned a 7 GWh state-of-the-art facility to enable scalable production for grid-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) energy storage applications. This directly strengthens India’s supply resilience by reducing import dependence and establishing domestic economies of scale.
Additionally, we have officially entered the residential and telecom energy storage segments with our range of lithium-ion inverter batteries and telecom backup solutions, supporting the market’s transition away from lead-acid systems toward more efficient, longer-lasting lithium-based technologies.

GEON, the future technologies division of Kabra Extrusiontechnik, builds on a strong legacy of engineering innovation and manufacturing excellence within the battery ecosystem. We maintain a safety-first and validation-driven framework that spans the entire value chain: cell, module, pack, and vehicle integration, to ensure high reliability, consistent performance, and long operational life under real-world Indian usage conditions.
End-to-End Testing Infrastructure & Domestic Manufacturing Investment
GEON operates a fully in-house R&D and advanced testing facility equipped with environmental chambers, mechanical abuse testing systems, battery pack testers, impedance analyzers, and CAE/CFD simulation tools for detailed structural and thermal validation. This integrated testing ecosystem reduces dependence on imported electronics and enables solutions that are specifically engineered for India’s climatic, load, and duty-cycle conditions.
Our ₹300+ crore manufacturing investment gives us precision automation, advanced weld profiling controlled BMS integration, high accuracy sealing, and thermal interface application, ensuring defect free production at scale. We see automation not as cost saving, but safety and consistency compounding over millions of cycles, while contributing to the Make-in-India initiative.
Advanced Manufacturing for Defect-Free Production & Supply Chain Integration
Battery pack manufacturing is supported by highly automated assembly lines covering laser welding, BMS integration, sealing processes, and thermal interface application. This controlled, standardized production approach minimizes potential defects at the source and ensures high process reliability and repeatability.
Through collaborations under the PLI framework, GEON sources critical components from Indian suppliers, strengthening domestic supply chains and fostering ecosystem development. Additionally, the company’s diversified product portfolio—spanning EV battery packs, inverter batteries, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)—creates meaningful economies of scale, further supporting local sourcing, cost efficiencies, and sustained manufacturing growth across segments.
With the proliferation of EVs and energy-storage solutions (ESS) in India, what testing, safety, and lifecycle validation processes has GEON implemented to ensure reliability and performance?
At GEON, safety is not an added layer, it is designed into the core architecture of every product. As EVs and ESS deployments scale across India, our approach has been to build a validation ecosystem that guarantees reliability from the chemistry level to field deployment.
All our products are designed and tested to meet globally recognised standards, including UN 38.3, IEC, and ISO, ensuring international benchmarks for safety, durability, and performance.
Our validation process includes extreme condition testing and safety testing such as crush, nail penetration, thermal propagation, short-circuit, dielectric strength, drop, vibration, temperature shock, salt-spray, and ingress protection (IP) tests for dust and water immersion. We also conduct environmental and vibration testing specifically aligned to India’s diverse climatic and road conditions, ensuring real-world durability. In addition, lifecycle validation through accelerated aging and performance benchmarking confirms long-term reliability before products reach customers.
Precision in manufacturing is equally important. Our modern automated assembly lines help eliminate human error while ensuring consistently high build quality and traceability across every production batch. Our proprietary systems integrate Battery Management Systems (BMS) and telematics for real-time health monitoring across deployed units. AI-powered predictive analytics enable early fault detection, proactive interventions, and preventive maintenance alerts, significantly reducing operational failures and downtime.
Together, these measures ensure that GEON products meet stringent safety norms while delivering dependable, long-term performance across demanding Indian operating environments, including commercial fleets and energy-storage installations.
How is GEON differentiating itself from imported battery / BESS systems — in terms of technology, cost of ownership, service infrastructure, and localisation?
At GEON, our technology advantage comes from end-to-end in-house pack design and systems engineering, enabling tighter integration between the battery pack, proprietary BMS, and system software. With dedicated engineering teams working across these layers, we ensure optimized performance, enhanced safety, and seamless system integration.
Our fully integrated battery packs are manufactured in India, creating a clear cost advantage by avoiding import duties and international logistics expenses. With ongoing localisation of assembly and after-sales operations, combined with mass-scale manufacturing and the development of a robust domestic supply-chain network, we continue to drive down the total cost of ownership versus imported battery and BESS systems.
In addition, our localized manufacturing and stocking of spares allow for faster service response and spare-part turnaround, significantly outperforming fully imported systems that depend on extended lead times. We support customers through a pan-India service network, comprising both GEON’s in-house engineering team and authorized third-party service partners, further minimizing downtime across fleet and ESS deployments.

Automotive Battery Packs
GEON delivers high-performance battery packs for 2W, 3W, and L3 aftermarket applications, while continuing to scale its OEM-grade LFP and LMFP platforms across 2Ws, 3Ws, LCVs, tractors, and fleet vehicles.
Growth across this segment is driven by:
- Rapid EV penetration in commercial logistics and gig-mobility fleets

We are initially launching high-volume, fast-moving products like inverter batteries to build field experience, service readiness, and channel reach, before scaling into large multi-MWh BESS deployments.
This scalable multi-segment roadmap positions GEON to capitalize on India’s accelerating demand for clean mobility, distributed energy storage, and renewable energy integration while maintaining strong technical and cost leadership.
What are GEON’s sustainability & circularity commitments (end-of-life battery management, recycling, repurposing) and how are they embedded in your product / services roadmap?
Sustainability and regulatory compliance are integral to GEON’s operations and product lifecycle management. We ensure that all e-waste and end-of-life batteries are disposed of responsibly through authorized recycling partners, maintaining strict adherence to safe recycling and material recovery practices.
For our recently launched storage battery products, we are also evaluating structured buyback and take-back programs to further support circularity and responsible end-of-life management.
GEON operates in full compliance with India’s Battery Waste Management Rules and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) norms, ensuring transparent tracking, collection, recycling, and reporting obligations across all eligible products.
In parallel, carbon-reduction goals are embedded into both our product design and manufacturing processes, with a continuous focus on material efficiency, localized sourcing, energy-efficient production, and logistics optimization. These measures allow us to minimize environmental impact while scaling operations responsibly.
In which segments (mobility 2-Wa/3-Wa/4-Wa, off-road, telecom/inverter, grid-scale BESS) is GEON focusing its growth over the next 24 months, and why?
The primary purpose of rebranding to GEON was to reflect our evolution from being a mobility-focused battery manufacturer into a comprehensive sustainable energy solutions company. While we have already established strong partnerships with leading players in the 2W EV ecosystem and begun scaling across the 3W segment, our strategic vision now extends much further.
Our goal is to bring the same levels of technology excellence, product reliability, and service capability into other high-growth energy segments, particularly stationary storage and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) applications, where we have already initiated active deployments.
Our focus areas are clearly defined across three core verticals:
- Mobility: Battery solutions for 2W, 3W EV platforms and light commercial vehicles
- Stationary Storage: C&I Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and residential ESS, integrated with rooftop solar solutions
- Grid-Scale Energy Storage: Containerized BESS installations to support renewable integration and grid stabilization
The rationale behind this expansion is driven by the significant market opportunity across all these segments, backed by strong structural growth. Policy incentives, rising EV adoption, accelerated renewable capacity additions, and increasing demand for grid stability are creating powerful tailwinds for energy storage deployment across India.
While mobility continues to be a core business contributor, we expect the next phase of growth to be led by stationary storage applications, particularly in grid-scale ESS, C&I BESS systems, telecom backup power solutions, and residential energy storage, as energy storage becomes a critical enabler of India’s clean energy transition.
What do you believe are the key policy, regulatory or supply-chain bottlenecks in India’s battery/ESS ecosystem today, and how is GEON working to mitigate these challenges?
India’s domestic lithium-ion cell manufacturing ecosystem is still at an early stage of development. While the Government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cells has allocated 40–50 GWh of planned capacity, large-scale commercial cell production has yet to commence as of late 2025. As a result, the sector continues to face several structural bottlenecks, including heavy dependence on imported cells, limited localization of key battery components, lack of a clear domestic-content mandate for BESS deployments, and shortages of skilled technical manpower.
In parallel, the battery testing and certification ecosystem in India is still maturing. BIS certification under IS 16046 (Part 2):2018, harmonized with IEC 62133-2, is currently mandatory for lithium-ion batteries. However, as the market scales, there remains a need for a broader network of accredited third-party test laboratories, harmonized standards across applications, and clearer certification frameworks—particularly for large-scale BESS systems.
Against this backdrop, GEON is fully aligned with the Government’s “Make in India” vision and is actively working with industry stakeholders to drive domestic value creation across the energy storage supply chain. Our partnerships with Indian utilities, renewable developers, EPC players, and system integrators strengthen our ecosystem involvement and enable faster market access while promoting local manufacturing and deployment.
GEON’s leadership has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to supporting India’s national goals of energy independence and reduced reliance on imports. To address current ecosystem challenges, we are proactively:
- Building strategic partnerships with upcoming domestic cell manufacturers
- Maintaining continuous engagement with policy makers and industry bodies
- Supporting policy advocacy through leading associations, particularly for the introduction of a domestic-content mandate for grid-scale BESS
