General Motors (GM) is set to showcase its advancements in electric vehicles and battery technology at Climate Week NYC 2025, the world’s largest annual climate event. GM will be the title sponsor of the Nest Climate Campus at the Javits Center, the main feature of this year’s conference.
GM will display the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Silverado EV at the event and will provide test drives of the Cadillac ESCALADE IQ, LYRIQ, OPTIQ, and Equinox EV. The leaders of the company will be involved in keynote events dedicated to the adoption of EVs and novel battery solutions.
Kurt Kelty, a GM executive and the vice president of battery, propulsion, and sustainability, will discuss how GM is moving with American battery technology, including its most recent achievements, such as its plans to commercialize lithium manganese rich (LMR) batteries.
Cassandra Garber, Chief Sustainability Officer, will appear the following day, 10:10 a.m. (ET), in a session called The Road Ahead: Breaking Barriers to EV Adoption. In a conversation with Anna Robertson, cofounder of The Cool Down, she will discuss solutions to such issues as the unavailability of charging and range constraints.
A recent news item involved GM making a world record as far as EV range is concerned, with a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck flying 1,059.2 miles on a single charge, which is far beyond the 493-mile range that the vehicle is estimated to have. Other indications of the company include record EV sales in August, which boost its claim as the second-largest seller of EVs in the U.S. GM has 14 EV models and is the largest EV battery cell manufacturer in the U.S. that has joint ventures in Ohio and Tennessee.
“General Motors remains committed to a zero-emissions future, with profitable EV production as our north star,” said Garber. “Advancing our EV portfolio is good business and good for society, and we’re proud to share our progress at this event.”
