Hero Future Energies (HFE) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 270 MW solar project integrated with an energy storage system (ESS). Secured under SECI’s ISTS XVII tender (2 GW Solar + 4 GWh ESS), the project was awarded at a tariff of INR 3.52/kWh.
This marks the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s second tender that integrates solar with energy storage, underlining Hero Future Energies’ (HFE) increasing leadership in executing technologically advanced and complex clean energy solutions. As a part of the Hero Group, HFE has been actively driving the renewable energy transition across India and global markets. The company has a diversified portfolio spanning solar, wind, and hybrid projects and is known for its innovation in sustainable energy development. HFE will implement this 270 MW project on a build-own-operate basis, with the flexibility to set up the project at any suitable location in India, provided it connects to the interstate transmission system (ISTS), ensuring reliable and dispatchable green power supply.
As per tender guidelines, the project must include an ESS of at least 0.5 MW/2 MWh for every 1 MW of solar capacity. The hybrid system is aimed at providing firmer, more reliable green power by mitigating renewable intermittency. This development reflects India’s commitment to advancing storage-integrated renewable energy infrastructure to support grid stability and clean energy transition.
