Along with the launch of the Honda Activa e: for India, the company also announced the launch of the Honda e:Swap battery switching service. A division of Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited (HEID), will handle the battery replacement service. The Honda Activa e will come with two detachable 1.5 kWh batteries. And the scooter’s sole power source will be that. February 2025 will see the Bengaluru launch of the Activa e, followed by April 2025 in Delhi and Mumbai.

After purchasing an electric scooter, users can access the battery swap stations by creating a membership on HEID’s mobile app. In April 2025, HEID will begin offering two-wheeler battery exchange services in Mumbai and Delhi NCR. This would make it possible for HEID to provide battery exchange services to more clients in India’s three largest cities. By March 2026, there will be 250 battery swapping stations in Bangalore, 150 in Delhi, and 100 in Mumbai as part of HEID’s ongoing station expansion to accommodate the increasing number of customers.

HEID was established in November 2021 with the goal of launching battery swapping services in India, initially for electric auto rickshaws. With HEID’s battery switch service, customers can exchange their depleted Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries for fully charged ones at the closest battery swap stations. Because HEID owns the battery, using this service lowers the upfront cost of buying an EV greatly and allays worries about battery run-outs and range anxiety.
