The white paper Comprehensive Safety Protection for C&I Energy Storage Systems, which offers comprehensive insights into safety strategies for commercial and industrial energy storage solutions, was officially released by Sigenergy, a leading energy innovator, and Intertek, a leading provider of Total Quality Assurance to industries worldwide.
Klaus Herrmann, Global Certifier at Intertek, and Samuel Zhang, Chief Technology Officer of Sigenergy, attended a joint launch event at Intersolar Europe 2025 to preview the white paper. With today’s formal announcement, their results are fully published and both businesses reaffirm their dedication to raising safety standards in the energy storage sector.
Commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage systems are essential for increasing energy efficiency and balancing power supply and demand as the world’s energy transition quickens. But their quick acceptance has also raised awareness of safety issues, highlighting the pressing need for stricter regulations and all-encompassing safety measures. In response, Sigenergy and Intertek have worked together to publish a White Paper that contributes to the development of industry-wide standards for the secure installation and use of C&I energy storage systems.
The White Paper offers technical viewpoints based on an assessment of Sigenergy’s SigenStack and focuses on important safety issues in C&I energy storage, including thermal runaway, fire mitigation, and system complexity. SigenStack is a useful example of how future energy storage systems might strike a balance between operating efficiency, safety, and flexibility because to its scalable and modular architecture.
The White Paper claims that SigenStack has passed a comprehensive set of globally accepted and automotive-grade safety tests, including as GB/T 36276, IEC 62619, and UL 9540A. According to test findings published in the journal, the system achieved operating efficiency of over 95% and retained structural integrity in the face of harsh circumstances. The White Paper hopes to encourage excellent practices and the long-term, sustainable growth of the global energy storage market by disseminating these results.
Samuel Zhang, Chief Technology Officer at Sigenergy, attached: “At Sigenergy, we believe safety and innovation must go hand in hand. Through our collaboration with Intertek, we are proud to contribute to the development of high-integrity safety standards and help drive the global transition toward smarter and more sustainable energy systems.”
Klaus Herrmann, Global Certifier at Intertek commented: “The release of this White Paper marks a significant step in our shared commitment to advancing safety in the energy storage sector. As a global leader in quality assurance, Intertek remains dedicated to enabling innovation through rigorous testing and certification, helping companies meet evolving safety requirements and expand confidently into new markets.”
