IREDA Begins 2026 with Renewed Commitment to Renewable Energy Financing

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) marked the beginning of New Year 2026 with a get-together for its employees at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, celebrating unity, institutional growth and renewed commitment to India’s renewable energy goals.

The event was attended by senior leadership from the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) and allied public sector enterprises, including Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE; Shri J.V.N. Subramanyam, Joint Secretary, MNRE; Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director, IREDA; Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), IREDA; and Shri Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman & Managing Director, HUDCO, along with other senior officials.

Addressing IREDA employees, Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi highlighted the importance of collective effort and leadership development, stating that “team building and nurturing young professionals are essential to prepare them as future leaders.” Emphasising IREDA’s growing responsibilities, he noted that “there is a strong need to further enhance financial support to MSMEs and under flagship initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar scheme,” while assuring that “MNRE will continue to extend its full support to IREDA in its growth journey,” said Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE.

Welcoming the Secretary and Joint Secretary, MNRE, Shri Pradip Kumar Das extended New Year greetings to employees and reflected on the organisation’s progress. He said that “IREDA’s workforce has grown from 168 employees on January 1, 2025 to 227 employees in 2026, with women constituting around 23% of the total strength, which is significantly higher than the CPSE average of 9.5%,” said Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA. He added that “this growth has been achieved through qualitative corporate governance and financial discipline, and the same approach will continue to ensure sustainable growth.”

Highlighting financial performance, Shri Das stated that “as on December 31, 2025 (provisional), IREDA has achieved cumulative loan sanctions of ₹2,78,016 crore, cumulative disbursements of ₹1,80,988 crore and a loan book of ₹87,975 crore.” Recalling recent milestones, he noted that “IREDA recorded its highest-ever annual Profit After Tax of ₹1,699 crore in FY 2024–25 and also received an international credit rating upgrade from S&P Global Ratings,” said Shri Pradip Kumar Das.

In his vote of thanks, Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), appreciated the collective efforts of employees, stating that “the spirit of teamwork shown by IREDA employees is commendable,” and encouraged them to “continue upholding high standards of governance and efficiency as the organisation moves forward,” said Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), IREDA.

The New Year gathering reaffirmed IREDA’s commitment to strengthening India’s renewable energy financing ecosystem while fostering an inclusive and performance-driven organisational culture.
