IWTMA Announces MoU with CEEW to Accelerate India’s Wind Energy Growth

The Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) has announced its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW).

As India plans to double its installed wind capacity to 100 GW by 2030, IWTMA and CEEW have joined hands to develop strategies to position India as a global hub for wind turbines and wind turbine component manufacturing and exports, paving the way for large-scale wind deployment and integration of onshore and offshore wind. The collaboration will leverage IWTMA’s industry leadership and CEEW’s policy and analytical expertise and bring key stakeholders to foster deliberations on the role of wind in India’s energy transition.

Mr. Aditya Pyasi, CEO, IWTMA, said, “This partnership between IWTMA and CEEW marks a defining step in unlocking the next phase of India’s wind energy journey. By driving large-scale deployment, strengthening domestic manufacturing, and creating new employment opportunities, we aim to not only enhance India’s energy security but also position the country as a global leader in sustainable wind solutions. Together, we can harness India’s vast wind potential to power a cleaner, more resilient, and self-reliant (Atmanirbhar) energy future.”

Ms. Shalu Agrawal, Director – Programmes, CEEW, said, “India’s growing power needs demand a diverse and balanced energy mix. Wind energy will be central to achieving it. Through our partnership with IWTMA, we aim to build robust evidence on the role and value of wind in India’s evolving power system, manufacturing, and trade, and chart pathways to unlock its untapped potential. Together, this partnership will help accelerate India’s economic transformation that delivers for both people and the planet.”

Wind turbine and component manufacturing will place India as the major global manufacturing hub for the wind sector, furthering the “Make in India” vision of our prime minister to create an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
