Jindal Power has appointed Sachin Mohapatra as Executive Director and Country Head of the Jindal Mmamabula Energy Project (JMEP) in Botswana. Mohapatra brings more than 34 years of experience in the power and energy sector, with expertise spanning large-scale project execution, commissioning, operations and strategic leadership.
Before joining Jindal Power, Mohapatra served as Chief Executive Officer and Whole-Time Director of Sasan Power Limited, where he provided strategic and operational leadership to the 3,960 MW thermal power project.
His professional experience also includes senior leadership positions at Essar Power, Lanco Power and NTPC Limited, giving him extensive exposure to power generation, project development and large-scale energy operations.
Mohapatra holds an M.Tech. in Power Generation Technologies from IIT Delhi, where he was awarded a Gold Medal. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Jamshedpur.
In his new role, Mohapatra will lead JMEP in Botswana as the project advances through its next phase of development. His experience in project execution, commissioning and power-sector operations is expected to support the project’s continued progress.
The appointment strengthens Jindal Power’s leadership team as it advances its energy development activities in Botswana and focuses on large-scale power and infrastructure projects in international markets.
