JinkoSolar Launches “Light Diamond” Lightweight Module for Low-Load Rooftop Solar

Global PV and energy storage leader JinkoSolar has unveiled its “Light Diamond” lightweight, high-strength solar module, designed to enable installations on rooftops with limited load-bearing capacity. Built on the Tiger Neo 3.0 technology platform, the solution aims to expand solar adoption across previously constrained structures.

Designed for Lightweight Deployment

The module weighs 16.2 kg and measures 1980 × 1134 × 30 mm, with a weight density of 7 kg/m²—around 40% lighter than conventional double-glass modules (12.2 kg/m²). It delivers a maximum output of 560 W and achieves an efficiency of up to 24.94%.

The product is suited for older factory buildings, temporary structures, light-gauge steel roofs, coal sheds, and other buildings where load restrictions have historically limited solar deployment.

High Efficiency Without Compromise

Unlike many lightweight modules that sacrifice performance, JinkoSolar’s “Light Diamond” combines reduced weight with high output. With over 100 W higher power compared to typical flexible or composite modules, it enables higher system capacity within the same rooftop space.

This increased efficiency also reduces Balance of System (BOS) costs cutting expenses for mounting structures, cables, and labor while lowering overall system costs by 3% to 5%.

Strength, Reliability, and Long-Term Performance

The module incorporates 1.6 mm lightweight glass, reinforced frame structures, and advanced encapsulation materials to ensure durability. It can withstand front-side loads of up to 3,600 Pa and back-side loads of 2,400 Pa, offering resistance to heavy snow, strong winds, and hail.

It features a temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C, ensuring better performance in high temperatures. The module is backed by a 30-year power warranty, with first-year degradation capped at 1% and annual degradation at 0.35%.

Cost Savings and Faster Deployment

The lightweight design significantly reduces installation complexity. Reinforcement costs are lowered by approximately 0.5 yuan per watt, equivalent to savings of about 500,000 yuan per MW. Construction timelines are reduced from over 40 days to just 8–10 days, without requiring production shutdowns.

Unlocking a Large Untapped Market

Industry estimates suggest that over 30% of China’s 6 billion square meters of commercial and industrial rooftops face load constraints, representing a potential market exceeding 200 GW. The “Light Diamond” module positions JinkoSolar to tap into this underserved segment.

JinkoSolar solar module innovation is expected to accelerate rooftop solar adoption by combining lightweight design, durability, and high-efficiency performance.
