Kinetic Launches DX EV, Reviving Iconic Scooter with a Modern Electric Twist

Kinetic has launched the all-new DX EV, bringing back the iconic scooter in a modern electric avatar packed with advanced features and smart technology.

The Kinetic DX EV comes in two forms: the DX and DX+ that is more advanced. Although the new design is a tribute to the old DX with the familiar body design as well as the solid metal structure, the new model has been designed together with the Italian designers to give it a new face that is more modern in its appearance. It also has the best-in-class 37 litre under-seat storage where you can carry a full-face helmet, a half-face helmet, and even your everyday needs, ideal in an urban commuter parlance with the family.

The legendary Kinetic DX, which was the symbol of convenience and mobility in the 90s, is back with a flair in a new e-avatar. As Kinetic Engineering Ltd is back in the Indian two-wheeler industry, it has opened the all-new Kinetic DX EV in its subsidiary Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd.

The battery-powered scooter starts at 111,499 rupees (ex-showroom, Pune) and 117,499 rupees (ex-showroom, Pune) for the DX and DX+ variants, respectively. The launch was made to appeal to younger users in this era of electrifying mobilities, as well as to its faithful following.

The Kinetic DX EV comes with two variants, the DX and the future DX+. Although the design is also a feast to the more traditional DX with its familiar body shape and the solid metal construction, a concession is made with the new design being projected as the joint project of the Italian designers to make it look new and refreshing. It also has the best-of-its-kind 37 litre under seat storage capacity, which can accommodate a complete full-face helmet, half-face helmet and everyday necessities, ideal especially for people who commute in cities and families who want their helmets to be stored easily.

The scooter is fueled by a Range-X-made 2.6 kWh LFP battery under the hood. Compared to the majority of the NMC-based batteries present in the market, this type of battery is safer, longer lasting and suitable to Indian conditions as they guarantee up to 3,500 charging-discharging cycles. It has a built-in battery, which drives a responsive motor that has a speed of up to 90 km/h and allows three riding systems, including the Range, Power, and Turbo. The DX+ variant is estimated to cover a 116-km range. The DX+ variant has a 60V power system, but with the efficient K-Coast regenerative technology, the range is estimated at 116-km.

The Kinetic DX EV also has gimmicks that are present in the segment that enhance luxurious comfort and functionality. Among them are Easy Key (which enables the user to start a scooter without using a key), Easy Flip (a way of deploying footrests with a single touch), and Easy Charge (an exclusive Easy Charge system). Both the variants are equipped with reverse mode as well as hill-hold assist to make it easy to control within difficult parking conditions or on slopes.

To tech-savvy riders, the DX+ also has a variety of smart capabilities in the form of a dedicated mobile app. These are Telekinetic connectivity giving real-time ride statistics, vehicle position tracking, geo-fencing and intruder alerts, and find my Kinetic. The scooter also has My Kiney Companion, a voice assistant with navigation directions, ride safety indications, and greetings to the user, and most excitingly, EXCITED morning birthday greetings as well! It likewise accommodates Bluetooth music and voice guidance by the use of in-built speakers.

It has also not sacrificed on comfort. The scooter has front suspension (telescopic) and rear shock absorbers, which are adjustable, and therefore that ensures a very comfortable ride. There is a 220mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum having a system of combi braking to stop in a safe manner.

With regard to colors, the DX+ has five choices (Red, Blue, White, Silver, and Black) compared to the usual DX with options of silver and black. The customers can reserve both versions of it only for 1000INR onwww.kineticev.in. There are, however, only 35,000 bookings, and these will start in September 2025.

Speaking on the launch, Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman of Kinetic India, shared, “The legendary Kinetic DX set so many firsts back in the ’90s that it earned a permanent place in the hearts of millions. Reviving this icon was about more than just launching a scooter; it was about bringing back the reliability, innovation, and robustness that defined Kinetic for decades, giving it a future-ready soul. With the new DX, we’ve introduced multiple segment-first features that we’re confident will make it a favorite in the new era of electric mobility. This marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for Kinetic and for the evolution of electric mobility in India.”

With an investment of 72 crores as capital and an extra 177 crores commitment by promoters, Kinetic Watts and Volts is to increase its production and relieve itself back to the position of a reputable company in the electric two-wheeler sector of India.

When the Kinetic DX makes a comeback in its electric avatar, it will be more than a trip down memory lane; it will be a step towards an electric future of mobility. With a hint of familiar charm and a touch of smart innovation, the new DX EV will be practical, will be safe, and will be simply stylish, and at the same time connected to its legendary past.
