KLK Ventures Secures Order to Deploy 1,000 Solar Water Pumping Systems Under PM KUSUM in Maharashtra

KLK Ventures Pvt. Ltd. has secured an order to deploy 1,000 solar water pumping systems across Maharashtra under the Government of India’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) Yojana, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growing renewable energy portfolio.

The project involves the design, supply, and installation of solar-powered water pumping systems with capacities of 3 horsepower (HP), 5 HP, and 7.5 HP. These systems are aimed at providing farmers with reliable, clean, and cost-effective irrigation solutions, while reducing dependence on conventional grid electricity and diesel-powered pumps. By leveraging solar energy, the initiative seeks to address long-standing challenges related to erratic power supply and rising fuel costs in rural and agricultural regions.

The deployment of solar pumps is expected to play a crucial role in improving energy access in rural areas, particularly for farmers who rely heavily on groundwater for irrigation. The systems will enable consistent water availability for agricultural activities, contributing to enhanced crop productivity and improved farm incomes. At the same time, the project is expected to significantly reduce operational and maintenance costs associated with irrigation, offering long-term financial benefits to farming communities.

Beyond direct benefits to farmers, the initiative aligns with Maharashtra’s broader clean energy and sustainability goals. By replacing diesel-based and grid-connected pumps with solar-powered alternatives, the project will help reduce carbon emissions, lower fossil fuel consumption, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The large-scale deployment is also expected to contribute to improved water security by enabling more efficient and controlled use of groundwater resources.

Commenting on the development, Akshat Jain, Chief Executive Officer of KLK Ventures, said the order reflects the confidence placed in the company’s technical expertise and execution capabilities. He added that KLK Ventures remains committed to delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions that create long-term value for farming communities and other stakeholders. Jain noted that the company sees the PM KUSUM project as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to India’s energy transition while supporting the agricultural sector.

The PM KUSUM Yojana is a flagship government programme aimed at promoting the use of solar energy in agriculture, enhancing farmers’ income, and reducing the burden of power subsidies on state governments. By encouraging the adoption of decentralised solar solutions such as solar water pumps, the scheme supports India’s broader objectives of increasing renewable energy capacity and achieving climate commitments.

With this latest order, KLK Ventures further strengthens its presence in Maharashtra’s solar infrastructure landscape and reinforces its role in supporting national efforts to expand solar adoption across rural India. The company’s participation in the PM KUSUM programme underscores its focus on scalable, impact-driven renewable energy projects that address both environmental and socio-economic priorities.

The project is expected to be implemented in phases, with KLK Ventures overseeing execution to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. Once completed, the initiative is anticipated to serve as a model for large-scale solar pump deployment, contributing to sustainable agriculture and clean energy adoption across the state.
