KSEB’s EV Charging Stations to Feature High-Tech Innovations

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) plans to turn EV charging stations into “Take a Break” spots for long-distance drivers. The new initiative plans to incorporate coffee shops, rest areas, and restrooms in addition to EV charging stations so that travelers may relax after the lengthy journey.

According to KSEB, there will be 15 million electric vehicles in the state by 2030. At a rate of 0.15 kW per kilometer, KSEB estimates that 2,700 million units of power will be required for EV charging. In addition to the 1,169 charging stations affixed to power poles, KSEB currently operates 485 private charging stations.

As the number of EVs rises, more charging stations will be constructed. Fast-charging stations will also be installed alongside major highways in collaboration with lodging facilities, eateries, lodging facilities, and homestays. These stations will require 1,000 square feet of space. The Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (ANERT) will provide funding for the construction of solar panels and charging stations.

    An increase in registrations

With 138,014 registered, two-wheelers make up the bulk of EVs in the state. There are 11,468 three-wheelers and 21,795 four-wheelers. The launch of new EV models has led to a rise in four-wheeler registrations.

There is a map of charging stations on the Play Store

To help consumers locate EV charging stations, KSEB has launched a smartphone app called “KE Map,” which is available on the Play Store. The app’s initial technical issues have been resolved, according to officials.
