LG Energy Solution Launches B.once for Five-Minute EV Battery Health Scans

Getting a clear read on an EV’s battery no longer requires guesswork. LG Energy Solution has introduced B.once, a new battery evaluation service that can assess the condition of an EV battery with a single scan in just five minutes.

B.once analyzes key indicators, such as remaining capacity, voltage, and temperature, to help users understand the exact condition of their vehicle’s battery. Built on LG Energy Solution’s extensive experience in battery management and diagnostics, the new service is backed by more than 10,000 global patents and the company’s proven expertise in Battery Management System (BMS) design.

B.once offers two diagnostic modes: Quick Scan and Power Scan.

Quick Scan connects to the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system and provides results within five minutes. Leveraging battery big data from approximately 30,000 EVs, Quick Scan provides fast and accurate evaluations that are particularly useful for used car platforms, service centers, and fleet management.

Power Scan provides a more in-depth analysis by generating a detailed report that leverages actual charging data. It analyzes battery performance between 50% and 80% state-of-charge and issues a battery report within 30 minutes of charging. This service offers faster, more accurate insights than conventional methods, which often require several days of data collection for full analysis.

The dedicated B.once app provides real-time access to comprehensive battery reports, translating raw data into clear, actionable insights. Reports include information such as battery capacity, resistance, cell imbalance, performance patterns, degradation level, and estimated driving range. These factors are illustrated in figures, which allow users to easily understand battery health.

Through B.once, LG Energy Solution aims to bring greater transparency and trust to the pre-owned EV market. Sellers can easily generate reliable diagnostic reports and share them with potential buyers. Buyers can then be assured of the credibility through objective and data-driven insights.

“With B.once, buyers can confidently purchase used EVs, and sellers can complete transactions backed by scientifically validated battery data from a global technology leader,” said an LG Energy Solution spokesperson.

The used EV platform Revolt will begin adopting B.once later this month. In addition, LG Energy Solution is collaborating with Korea’s largest used car trading platform and has signed partnerships with leading EV auction platforms, further broadening the service’s market reach and ecosystem connections.

Following B-Lifecare, the real-time battery monitoring service also offered by LG Energy Solution, B.once adds a one-time, objective evaluation service to LG Energy Solution’s growing BaaS portfolio—delivering comprehensive solutions throughout the entire battery lifecycle.

“Aligned with leading insurance and financial partners, B.once will invigorate the used EV market and accelerate growth across the EV ecosystem,” said Brandon Kim, BaaS Business Department Leader. “We will continue to leverage our advanced battery technology to deliver greater customer value and reinforce our global leadership in the BaaS sector.”
