Indian solar module manufacturer Luno Solar has secured an order to supply solar modules for a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) project in Bengaluru, marking a significant milestone for the company in government-backed renewable energy initiatives. The project is being implemented by NTPC Limited, which issued the contract for the solar module supply.
The order involves mono PERC-based solar modules, with Luno Solar planning to complete delivery within one month, ensuring the project progresses on schedule. This project further strengthens the company’s footprint in India’s institutional and government renewable energy segment.
Luno Solar currently operates a 600 MW annual solar module manufacturing facility in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, where mono PERC modules are produced. To meet growing demand, the company is expanding its production capabilities with a 1.2 GW solar module line based on TOPCon technology, expected to be commissioned in the financial year 2026. These steps are part of Luno Solar’s broader strategy to enhance domestic manufacturing and contribute to India’s renewable energy goals.
In addition to its technical capabilities, Luno Solar has focused on brand visibility and strategic partnerships. Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, along with business coach Vivek Bindra, previously invested in the company and continue to support its branding initiatives. This makes Luno Solar one of the few Indian solar manufacturers actively leveraging celebrity endorsements to promote awareness and strengthen market presence.
The DRDO Bengaluru order represents a critical step in the company’s growth trajectory, reinforcing its reputation as a reliable supplier of high-quality solar modules for institutional and government projects. With its expanding manufacturing base, innovative technology adoption, and strong brand strategy, Luno Solar is well-positioned to support India’s ambitious renewable energy targets, contribute to green energy adoption, and drive domestic solar manufacturing capabilities.
Through such initiatives, the company continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable energy, technological innovation, and strategic partnerships, playing a pivotal role in India’s transition to a greener and more energy-efficient future.
