A single platform that offers real-time information on all of the charging stations that are available in the nation has been desired by Mercedes-Benz India. This could increase the uptake of electric vehicles by making it easier for owners of those vehicles to locate and utilize charging facilities. The necessity for such a platform was underlined by Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India. He pointed out that the existing system, which has several apps, is complicated and deters people from switching to electric automobiles.
Iyer proposed a UPI-based system that is comparable to India’s popular digital payment platform. With only one app, customers would be able to find charging stations with ease and pay for their charges. He noted that compared to the current disjointed landscape, such a system would be a considerable improvement and would make electric vehicle ownership much more convenient.
Mercedes-Benz India believes that creating a single app for charging stations is an essential step in encouraging the use of electric vehicles in the nation; the government has previously indicated interest in doing so. The company has observed a consistent rise in sales of electric vehicles, a sign of rising consumer interest, but they think that continued expansion depends on a more user-friendly infrastructure for charging.
