In a major push toward advancing Odisha’s clean-energy mission, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) and the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025 in Puri. The partnership is aimed at jointly developing a wide range of renewable-energy projects, including solar, hybrid, rooftop solar, and advanced energy-storage systems across the state.
The MoU was formally exchanged by Shri Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, Additional Secretary, Department of Energy & CEO, OREDA Ltd., in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister of Odisha, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. Several senior officials, including Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS; Dr. Satyapriya Rath, IAS; and Dr. Debi Dutta Tripathy, OFS, were also present during the ceremony, underscoring the strategic importance of this collaboration.
This partnership seeks to enhance Odisha’s renewable-energy capabilities through the large-scale deployment of solar power plants, hybrid power systems, and rooftop solar solutions. The inclusion of modern energy-storage technologies is expected to improve grid stability and ensure round-the-clock clean power availability.
By expanding renewable-energy capacity, this collaboration aligns with Odisha’s long-term sustainability goals and its vision to emerge as a leading green-energy hub in eastern India. This strategic initiative is a significant step toward strengthening Odisha’s renewable-energy ecosystem and accelerating the state’s clean-energy transition.
