NTPC Declares Commercial Operation of 359.58 MW Solar Capacity Across Gujarat and Rajasthan

NTPC Ltd. has declared the commercial operation of 359.58 MW of solar power capacity across projects implemented by its subsidiaries in Gujarat and Rajasthan, further strengthening its renewable energy portfolio.

The company announced the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of 243.66 MW out of the 1,255 MW Khavda-1 Solar PV Project in Gujarat, developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. (NTPC REL), a step-down subsidiary of NTPC through NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL).

“We wish to inform you that the seventh part capacity of 243.66 MW out of 1,255 MW Khavda-1 Solar PV Project located in Gujarat under CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III of NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 hrs of December 17, 2025,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

In Rajasthan, NTPC also declared COD of 78 MW out of 245 MW capacity at Plot-1 of its Nokh Solar PV Project (3×245 MW).

“Consequent upon successful commissioning, 78 MW out of 245 MW capacity at Plot-1 of NTPC’s Nokh Solar PV Project (3×245 MW), Rajasthan, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 Hrs. of December 17, 2025,”the company stated.

The 245 MW Plot-3 of the Nokh Solar PV Project was fully commissioned earlier in June 2025. NTPC also declared COD of 37.925 MW out of 300 MW capacity at the Khavda Solar Energy Project, part of the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project in Gujarat, executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd.

With these additions, the total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC Group has reached 85,541 MW, while NTPC’s standalone capacity stands at 60,783 MW. NTPC Green Energy Ltd.’s operational capacity has reached 7,889.335 MW.

NTPC currently contributes nearly one-fourth of India’s total power requirements, with over 85 GW of installed capacity and an additional 30.90 GW under construction, including 13.3 GW of renewable energy capacity. The company has set a target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, in line with India’s Net Zero ambitions.

Beyond power generation, NTPC has expanded into new business areas including e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen solutions, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and clean energy development.
