The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), in collaboration with the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), successfully organized a full-day training programme on the STELLAR (State-of-the-Art Resource Adequacy Model) Tool on 15 December 2025 at MNRE, New Delhi. The initiative was aimed at enhancing institutional capacity and enabling effective utilization of the STELLAR tool in power system planning and renewable energy integration.
The programme brought together participants from MNRE, CEA, the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), NTPC, and the State Electricity Departments of Puducherry and Goa, along with representatives from other key power sector institutions. The event fostered active engagement and discussions among stakeholders on critical aspects of energy planning.
During the training, participants engaged in comprehensive technical deliberations focusing on resource adequacy planning, capacity expansion strategies, and the integration of renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, and demand response mechanisms. The sessions provided hands-on guidance on the practical application of the STELLAR tool, emphasizing its role in supporting data-driven planning, scenario modeling, and informed decision-making in the power sector.
A senior official from MNRE highlighted, “The training programme provides a critical platform for stakeholders to understand and leverage the STELLAR tool, ensuring robust planning for renewable integration and system adequacy across the country.”
The training is expected to strengthen institutional capabilities and support more effective planning and management of India’s evolving power system. By equipping participants with technical knowledge and practical skills, the programme reinforces the importance of advanced analytical tools in facilitating the integration of renewable energy and improving system reliability.
This initiative underscores the commitment of MNRE and CEA to empower central and state-level institutions, promoting sustainable growth and resilience in India’s electricity sector while advancing the country’s clean energy and climate objectives.
