NTPC Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with Octopus Energy Group to explore collaboration opportunities across the power and energy sector. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on the sidelines of the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026.
Strategic Collaboration Across Key Energy Segments
The MoU establishes a non-binding framework for cooperation between the two companies to identify and pursue opportunities in multiple areas. These include electricity distribution and retail, renewable energy and storage, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and digital energy platforms.
The partnership will also focus on innovation, research and development, and capacity building, with the broader aim of enhancing efficiency, affordability, reliability, and clean energy adoption across markets.
Expanding Global Energy Footprint
The collaboration is expected to extend beyond India and the United Kingdom to other mutually agreed geographies, reflecting both companies’ ambitions to strengthen their global presence in the evolving clean energy landscape.
The agreement was formalized during the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, a major platform bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and global stakeholders in the power sector.
Focus on Clean Energy and Digital Innovation
Under the partnership, both companies will explore opportunities in emerging areas such as digital energy solutions and advanced technologies that can support the transition to low-carbon energy systems.
The collaboration also aims to accelerate the development of EV charging infrastructure and energy storage solutions, which are critical for integrating renewable energy into power systems and supporting decarbonisation goals.
Strengthening India’s Energy Transition
For NTPC, India’s largest integrated power utility, the agreement represents a step forward in its strategy to expand renewable energy capacity and adopt innovative digital solutions.
The partnership with Octopus Energy, known for its technology-driven energy solutions, is expected to bring global expertise and best practices into India’s rapidly evolving power sector.
Driving Future-Ready Energy Systems
The MoU shows how important it is to work together with other countries to solve problems with the energy transition. The goal of the partnership is to make energy systems that are more efficient, environmentally friendly, and focused on the needs of consumers by combining NTPC’s size and infrastructure with Octopus Energy’s digital and retail skills.
The development underscores India’s increasing engagement with global players to accelerate clean energy adoption and build future-ready power infrastructure.
