Oswal Pumps Bags ₹119.92 Crore KUSUM-B Order for 3,263 Solar Pumps in Karnataka

Oswal Pumps Limited, a vertically integrated solar pump manufacturer, has secured a ₹119.92 crore order (inclusive of GST) from Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) under the PM-KUSUM B Scheme. The order entails the supply and installation of 3,263 off-grid DC solar photovoltaic water pumping systems across farmers’ locations in Karnataka, reinforcing sustainable irrigation and renewable energy adoption in the agricultural sector.

Scope and Execution

The project covers end-to-end execution, including design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of solar pumps in 3 HP, 5 HP, 7.5 HP, and 10 HP capacities. This marks Oswal Pumps’ first large-scale and comprehensive project in Karnataka, reflecting its geographic expansion strategy and strengthening its presence in the southern market.

Company Strengths and Strategy

Oswal Pumps stands out among solar pump manufacturers due to its in-house module manufacturing capabilities, which enable higher margins and streamlined operations. The company has also announced plans to expand its existing module setup and explore related renewable energy areas, while strategically avoiding cell manufacturing to minimize risks.

Unlike many competitors, Oswal focuses on state-level tenders rather than central government projects. Chairman and Managing Director Vivek Gupta explained that, with PM-KUSUM’s next phase yet to roll out, all current tenders whether in Karnataka, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, or other states are issued by individual state governments, not central agencies.

Commenting on the Order

Chairman and Managing Director Vivek Gupta explained  highlighted the strategic significance of the Karnataka order, stating, “This order underlines our proven ability to execute large-scale solar pumping projects and strengthens our credibility under public-sector renewable energy programs. It is a key step in expanding our footprint and delivering sustainable irrigation solutions.”

Impact and Outlook

Successful execution of this order is expected to enhance Oswal Pumps’ market penetration in Karnataka, support sustainable agricultural practices, and open the door for larger renewable energy opportunities in the region. With robust supply chain, installation, and after-sales capabilities, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on upcoming state-level renewable energy tenders.
