In order to reduce air pollution, a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized how urgently electric vehicle adoption and the development of charging infrastructure in the NCR region are needed.
In order to effectively manage air quality, P K Mishra, the prime minister’s principal secretary, chaired the task force meeting and urged all relevant agencies to strictly and promptly implement the Graded Response Action Plan, a set of anti-pollution measures enforced during winter.

Mishra instructed the chief secretaries of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh strict instructions to implement action plans that minimize stubble burning, guarantee that crop residue management equipment is fully utilized, and assist small businesses in making profitable use of paddy straw.

He emphasized the significance of switching to electric cars and developing the NCR’s EV charging network. In line with the PM eBus Sewa Scheme, which intends to bring 10,000 e-buses to the nation, Mishra reportedly also urged states to grow their fleets of e-buses. Additionally, Mishra encouraged state governments and law enforcement to firmly implement firework restrictions.

Prominent officials from a number of ministries, including the environment, agriculture, power, petroleum, road transportation, housing, and animal husbandry, as well as the chief of police in Delhi, attended the conference.
Participants in the conference included chief secretaries from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi, as well as representatives from the Central and State Pollution Control Boards.
